With great sadness, we announce the passing of John "Jack" Smith, who died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88 on October 25, 2023. A longtime resident of Springfield, Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was born in 1935 to William and Mary Smith and served in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a distinguished career as a civil engineer. A true family man, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid woodworker, known for crafting beautiful furniture for his loved ones.
